What is Sugar Waxing?
Sugar Waxing is a form of hair removal, similar to traditional waxing.
Sugar 'Wax' is made of sugar, water, and lemon juice. It is melted down then cooled to create a Taffy-like product to remove hair from the follicle.
Why Sugar?
Sugar is extra gentle, exfoliating the first layer of dead skin cells while removing hair from the follicle, whereas traditional wax removes the first layer of live skin cells which can leave you feeling raw and even cause lifting of the skin.
How does it work?
Sugar is applied opposite of hair growth and worked into the hair follicle. It is then pulled or 'flicked' off in the direction of hair growth, sliding it out of the follicle, resulting in less in-growns and gently exfoliating naturally.
Does Sugaring hurt?
Sugaring is usually considered less painful than waxing because the mixture only adheres to dead skin cells, not live ones. The application can be a little more uncomfortable than the actual pull itself, but not quite as painful as traditional waxing.

How to prepare for a Sugar Wax
Exfoliate the area 2-3x per week using an exfoliating mitt, or sugar scrub.
Moisturize daily. All natural- unscented products are recommended like coconut, jojoba, or grapeseed oils. Hair must be 1/4 inch or about the length of a grain of rice.
After your Sugar Wax
Continue to exfoliate the area 72 hours after your sugar wax. This allows new hair growth to come through preventing in-growns.
Avoid excessive sweating and exercise 24 hours post sugaring.
Avoid chlorinated water and excessive heat.
Do not shave and re-schedule every 4-6 weeks.
